Highly motivated athletes are the best to coach. You don’t have to worry if they got their run or workout in, they are always eager to train, perform, and do what’s necessary to get better. But, there are pitfalls that even the most well-intentioned athletes need to be aware of. The higher the motivation, the greater the likelihood of overtraining. In this episode, we go over what to watch out for in motivated athletes, including:

  • They fall for the more is better fallacy
  • They tie their identity to what you do
  • They lose perspective and are unable to zoom out
  • They have difficulty stepping off the merry go round
