First, I’ve redesigned the website a little bit to make it a little more friendly for both the visitors and me in editing things.  I’ve also changed the website address (though the old one will still work) so that it’s easier to remember, find, and doesn’t have that annoying .blogspot in it.  I looked at several different website domains, but eventually settled on:  https://www.scienceofrunning.com/  It was available, and seemed to make the most sense.  I wanted to get away from just using my name because that makes it seem like the website is all about me, when in reality it’s about helping others and the interaction that occurs because of things I post.

Secondly, I’m in the middle of finals for school, so it’s a busy time period.  I just gave a presentation on some research I did for a class that looked at Motivation in High School versus Elite runners.  It’s relatively interesting, so I’ll post that up sometime.

In the mean time, here’s a video of several different views of me running at several different paces in slow motion.  Some of the time my biomechanics are good, some bad.  I’ll do some discussion in the future.  My form isn’t quiet as crisp because I’m coming off some hamstring issues.

Enjoy!

      there-is-time-to-rest-not-halfway-rest.
Seem like Sammy might have been resting up too much in the local night clubs, going by reports in the running mags!
If this is true it's a great shame as he is an awesome runner with a massive future ahead of him!
lets hope London was a wake up call for him and he gets back on track !

Just came across your site through Jay Johnson and tore through a few posts. Awesome stuff Steve – not a lot of people are writing about running with your science background and I really appreciate you putting this stuff out here!

The new site looks great, looking forward to your evaluation of your gait. Peace – Fitz.

Wow–that is an amazing amount of stress on the ankle… I can now appreciate why I've had issues in my inner ankles…

      Thanks for the comments all!

Rick- You're right on Sammy Wanjiru. Not sure he was ready for London.

Definately makes you appreciate the load that the lower leg is placed under.

      Hi Steve,
I wonder if you could do an article on which are the best weight training and plyo exercises for distance runners, there is a lot of conflicting advise out there, which makes doing the right training very confusing!Cheers Rick
